As a trained conservation biologist this is the most important step we can take. You do not understand how many issues we could solve if people bought most of their food from local sources.
I am not even vegetarian, and eating local is incredibly important, but removing beef from the average North American diet cuts out more carbon than exclusively buying local but eating mostly the same food.
